Perhaps my life has been unusually dysfunctional. My family has been miles away from any of those portrayed on television and my relationships have been worlds away from those portrayed in the movies. So, I have always been challenged to find greeting cards that fit my situations.

Cards were created, it seems, to portray life as maybe some want it to be, instead of how it truly is. Many of us weren’t raised by two parents—heck by even one parent. We have siblings with whom we aren’t tight; or friends who are estranged but whom you still love; or relationships that are celebrating an anniversary but are going through challenging times. What about the couples who have children, but aren’t married; the person who graduated late but showed perseverance and graduated; the person you love, but with whom you aren’t in an exclusive relationship? Cards should be available for those times and those people.

To meet this need, Beatnik24 has started a line of cards: Real cards for Real Life.
