
According to the natural order of things, children should bury their parents. They are older, so logically they should die first. But the heart doesn’t speak logic; and is deaf to what’s natural. So, when a parent seems to suddenly transition from being the person on whom you’ve always leaned and depended upon — to being the person (another person) who is now dependent on you – your world shifts – and you are thrown completely off balance.
Without a doubt this is the number one reason going to an HBCU Homecoming is the best thing evah. An HBCU is as close as any Black person can get to an actual Wakanda. For a weekend, we are in a land where we don’t have to worry about somebody questioning our presence, feeling as if we don’t belong, wondering if we will be treated fairly, or feeling as if our every action is being judged. We are free.
oday Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 206 into California State Law. The law now allows student athletes to generate revenue and profit off of their name, image and likeness. While well-intentioned no doubt, it benefits only a handful and falls woefully short of impacting – let alone curing – the inequity of collegiate athletics
