- Theoretically, we would hope so and at the end of the day I'm going to always advocate for a 2 parent home!! If 2 stable & healthy parents (emotionally & mentally) fully understand and embrace their responsibilities to nurture, love, guide, teach, provide for and protect their children then their kids have a greater likelihood of being successfully functioning children. In some situations, however, both parents could be ill-equipped and fighting their own demons. In this instance, a single parent who's got their act together may yield better parenting than two that don't.
