Sweet, Black, Baby Jesus, I’s happier than a fat hog in slop!  Nobody coulda toldt me that we’d one day have a Black, woman Vice President. Nope. Folks talk bout what America is. America is s’posed to be the country where anybody can make it; but fo da most part them anybodys been White and male.

So it tis indeed a Happy Day! Can I gets a Amen with a side of Hallelujah? We gots so much to celebrate – like I toldt Deacon Boyd, dis Sunday woulda been a feather hat type of Sunday (cause all good Southern folks know that you wear yo hats wit real feathers on special occasions). And we shouldn’t just rejoice about the destination; we gots to celebrate how we got there: Black women! Black women been holdin dis country down since we got here!

And dey on’t make it easy fo us Black women to be great. Them folks suppress votes mo den my girdle suppresses deez love rolls. And yet, we showed up. We made sho our peoples showed up. The mo they tried to push us back; the mo we became determined to push on. To live in America, a Black woman must climb mountains — and also move em.

And fo the first time evah we got acknowledged for all our mountain climbin and movin. I’s so used to our sacrifices being taken fo granted (folks jus expect us to to be strong and do our thang) dat I bout choked on my peach wine when I read dat Vice President Elect Harris (just loves saying that) said “I want to speak directly to the Black women in our country. Thank you. You are too often overlooked, and yet are asked time and again to step up and be the backbone of our democracy. We could not have done this without you.” Glory be . . . after a lifetime of of making 7-up cakes for da church’s voter registration fish frys, waitin in long lines wit my corns hurtin to vote, and coercin eer Black person who has ever sat next to me on da bus or stood behind me in line at Piggly Wiggly to vote –I’s been seen and appreciated. All us have been — by da Vice President of the United States none da less.

Dats what we need to focus on – da good about dis time. Lord knowd we needed some good after dis year. We on’t need to pay dat Chump no mind. We knew he was gonna react to losin like a petulant child so why is anyone surprised? He gowan be mad and so is his cult – specially cause da folks dey discounted are the exact ones who served his ass a loss. Don’t pay him no mind. Only focus yo energy on thangs you want to grow.

Whatchu want to grow in yo life? Focus on that Suga because you can make it so. We Black women climb mountains and then we move em!
